Rat, what's the game about? Please tell us

Duster Buster is a Pixel-art rogue-lite adventure blending horror and humor. Players take on the role as a cleaner hired to clean a big, run-down mansion filled with furniture-monsters.
The game’s quirky take on both combat, character-building, and cleaning, along with a lighthearted story, makes it approachable for casual players interested in a fun experience with a sometimes hardcore genre, while still somewhat challenging for advanced fans of the genre.

As the player unravels the secrets of the mansion, guided by their mole-merchant sidekick, they get to choose a build that works for them, adding a layer of replayability.

Hi there! Thank you SO much for trying out our game—we're absolutely thrilled to have you play! 🎉 Before you can clean the couch, you’ll need to take him down first. Use the attacks indicated by the button prompts in the outer area. Go get 'em, and have a blast!

Duster Buster gameplay notes

Easy to accidentally choose an ability when you're clicking through level up dialogue. Maybe add an animation or input delay

Mouse selection fights with the navigation selection, so it looks like one option is always highlighted, which is kinda janky since both mouse and keyboard are needed by default

Better to ditch the mouse altogether, because it uses your movement direction for attack direction anyways. I'd switch to arrowkeys, and z/x/c/v type layout personally

if you take the dodgeroll perk, it makes many other perks pointless, which makes the choices boring

It's not clear if taking dodge roll perk multiple times has an additive effect on damage and roll distance. (If so that's rad lol) Same with the heavy attack only perk, though that one hits everything anyways. It could definitely use a boss with more health (maybe just a modified lamp or couch) to make the damage increases seem meaningful later on

Heavy attack left and right hitbox is very small, misses when directly next to a lamp, unlike when attacking up or down

  1. We'll look into adding input delay or animations for level-up selection.
  2. Great point on mouse vs. navigation—we're considering a keyboard-only setup (arrow keys + Z/X/C/V).
  3. Dodge roll perk clarity and balance is on our radar—stacking perks might need better explanation!
  4. We'll tweak heavy attack hitboxes for better consistency near lamps.
  5. Love the idea of a high-health boss like a modified lamp or couch for late-game challenge.

Your insights are super helpful—keep 'em coming!
